Mennonite Home provides compassionate care to 96 elderly persons who call Parkwood Mennonite Home their
home.
The Home is divided into three 32-bed
resident areas, which include spacious spas, intimate dining
areas, and numerous locations of varying sizes to gather as
family or community. There are 58 private rooms and 19
shared rooms (two people to a room with either a privacy
curtain or a wall dividing the room).
One Home Area, Bauman Homestead, is
designed for residents with dementia who are at risk of
wandering. The other two Home Areas, Snyder’s corner and
Weber Woods, provide care to residents with varying levels
of need. We are a smoke-free facility.
The following information is designed to help
you decide if your loved one will call Parkwood Home.
Spirituality
Our Chaplain seeks to meet the spiritual needs of each
resident by organizing interdenominational worship services,
Bible studies and small groups.
Participation in spiritual programs is voluntary at all
times.
Programs
Recreational programs and entertainment are a very important
part of life at Parkwood. The events calendar lists the type
of program, time and location for each event. It is posted
in each Home Area and is delivered monthly to each resident's
room. Family and friends are welcome to participate in all
of our programs.
Residents' Council and
Family Council
meetings are held monthly. Residents and families are urged
to attend.
Café
The volunteer-run café, where residents may socialize and
enjoy a free cup of tea or coffee, is open regularly. Family
and friends are welcome to stay and socialize with the
residents; tea and coffee are available to visitors for a
small fee.
Celebration Room
and Fellowship Hall
The Celebration Room and Fellowship Hall
are common areas that can be booked by families for special
occasions such as birthday or anniversary celebrations. The
Celebration Room is suitable for smaller groups of up to 16
people; the Fellowship Hall is a large hall which can seat
100. A kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave and dishes is
available in an adjacent room.

Care Services Caring registered
nursing staff are on-site at all times. Assistance with
dressing, bathing, eating and all other aspects of personal
care is provided by trained staff. All residents receive a
choice of baths or showers twice a week. Our staff come from
many cultures, allowing them to communicate in a variety of
languages.

Grant; he has provided medical direction and care to
Parkwood residents for over 20 years. A second Home
physician, Dr. Anil Chettimada, shares responsibility in
providing medical services.

Parkwood Mennonite Home by the University
of Waterloo, School of Optometry. Appointments will be

of care that encourages residents to be as physically
independent as possible.
Parkwood provides walking and exercise programs, as well as feeding and
eating assistance programs.

mementos to create their own personal and familiar sense of
home. Each resident is provided with a “Memory Box” at the
entrance of their room to display their cherished life’s
treasures. Rooms are cleaned or tidied daily. General
laundry services are provided on our premises.

For the security of our residents, all exterior doors are
equipped with alarms to prevent unauthorized entry or exit.
Coded alarm systems are also located at the entrance to each
Home Area.
